The annual mixed match against Royal North Devon took place today, Sunday 6th October. This year the venue being RND.
Travelling up to Bideford and seeing the forecast of rain and storms had us wondering whether the match might be cancelled but no such luck. The first match teed off at 1130 in the dry, by the time the fourth match took their drives the rain had begun – but it was bearable. Fast forward a few holes and to a different story. The heavens opened! The grey nimbostratus clouds, unrelenting above us, had clearly settled above the links for the day. The word soon reached players that the match was abandoned and 24 bedraggled humans made their way back across rain soaked fairways and puddle-ridden greens to the warmth of a busy Clubhouse, clearly relieved of the decision.
The RND catering staff kindly brought the Sunday Carvery forward by a couple of hours and the match was declared an honourable draw.
Thank you so much to the team of Neil Bradley & Sara Taylor, Nigel & Jax Buse, Bob & Annie Cruse, Rupert & Caroline Hume-Kendall, John & Sharon Twiggs and Chris & Carole Waights for taking it all in their stride.
No picture, it was too wet!!
