Job Title: Greenkeeper
Location: St Enodoc Golf Club, PL27 6LD.
Job Type: Full-time. 40 Hours per-week.
Reports To: Golf Course Manager.
Responds to: The Golf Deputy Course Manager, Chairman of Greens, The General Manager.
Scope and Purpose:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Greenkeeper to join our dynamic team.
The Greenkeeping team plays a crucial role in the maintenance and enhancement of our golf course, a World Top 100 Golf Course, ensuring it meets the highest standards of playability and aesthetics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for turf management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Turf Maintenance
Perform routine mowing, edging, and other turf maintenance tasks to uphold the quality and appearance of the golf course.
Irrigation System Operation
Monitor and operate irrigation systems to maintain optimal soil moisture levels and support healthy turf growth.
Weed and Pest Control
Implement effective weed and pest control measures to protect the turf and overall landscape.
Course Setup
Assist in the setup of the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and events, including tee placements, flag positions, and hazard marking.
Bunker Maintenance
Maintain bunkers by raking, edging, and ensuring proper sand levels.
Equipment Operation
Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment, such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
Aeration and Topdressing
Participate in aeration and topdressing activities to promote soil health and improve playing conditions.
Landscape Enhancement
Contribute to landscaping projects aimed at enhancing the overall aesthetics and biodiversity of the golf course.
Safety Compliance
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and others.
Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other team members, including the Head Greenkeeper, to achieve the highest standards in golf course maintenance.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Greenkeeper or similar role in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems, and pest control methods.
Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of golf course equipment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework or certifications in turf management or related fields are a plus.
Physical Requirements
Stamina to work outdoors for extended periods.
Physical dexterity to operate and manoeuvre maintenance equipment.
