A great week of work experience

A great week of work experience for 3 students from Wadebridge School and Treviglas School, Newquay.

They have raked bunkers, changed holes, swept greens, cleared ponds, taken moisture readings and enjoyed all kinds of weather! St Enodoc is also supporting students from Callywith College and Truro College inside the clubhouse with ongoing placements and work experience weeks.

Cornwall Schools Team Championship 2024

Alfie, Harry and Matthew who are all heading off to Woodhall Spa Golf Club, on Wednesday 8th July.
(The National Golf Centre)
Alfie, Harry and Matthew all represented Bodmin College in the County Championships at Truro along with other schools throughout Cornwall,  so competition was tough. Our three Juniors who were the winning team on the day, will now represent their  County, Bodmin College and St Enodoc, in the National Finals.

“The Times” features St Enodoc

“The Times” ran a feature on May 3rd entitled “12 of the best golf and spa hotels in the UK”. The full feature may be seen here – https://www.thetimes.co.uk/travel/destinations/uk-travel/best-golf-hotels-in-the-uk-9p77t50vv  but if you would like a preview of what they say about us and the St Enodoc Hotel here it is …….

Ranging across the undulating landscape of the Camel Estuary, the two courses at St Enodoc Golf Club in Rock make for a memorable golf break. Tee off at the Church course, set amid towering dunes that make the most of this dramatic natural landscape — and don’t miss the Holywell course for a short and sweet round on this par-63 layout. Bed down at the laidback St Enodoc Hotel, where the chic bedrooms come with estuary views.

More information on the St Enodoc Hotel may be found here https://enodoc-hotel.co.uk/ and here @Stenodochotel

On the Courses this Week 14th August 2023

A focused intervention will be undertaken on our greens to address the presence of rogue grass activity. This strategic effort is aimed at enhancing the overall quality and consistency of our greens. While this intervention is specific to the greens, we want to reassure that our commitment to maintaining the highest standards extends to all other playing surfaces and peripherals. We will continue implementing cultural maintenance practices that promote healthy grass cover and resilience throughout the facility.

Louis Archer wins 2023 Cornwall Golf Union Mens Championship

With a 4 & 3 win this afternoon over Jack Kevern from West Cornwall GC Louis Archer has become the 2023 Cornwall Golf Union Mens Champion. One down after the morning round Louis played solid matchplay golf in the strong northerly breeze at Newquay GC and eventually ran out a comfortable winner against a worthy opponent.

The win completes what is probably a unique double for the Club being honoured with both the Ladies, Kira Barnes and now Louis as County Champions. It is also unique in other ways; our last Mens Champion in 2016 was Joe Cruse and he also won at Newquay GC. Before him John Bradley also won one of his County Championships at Newquay GC.

Mention must also be made of the wisdom provided to Louis during the week from our Head Pro, Nick Williams, and who was on Louis’ bag. And thanks too to the many Members who supported Louis during the week.

Bravo Louis and well played, a deserving Champion !
