Dollar Spot: Smith-Kerns
As you will know, we have been frequently communicating about the impact of the disease Dollar Spot on both courses.
The Turf Maintenance team used the Smith-Kerns dollar spot model to predict likely outbreaks. Unfortunately, the Smith-Kerns dollar spot model indicates increasing disease pressure throughout the week, with a notable rise above the high-risk threshold of 20%, where dollar spot outbreaks become more likely. Starting at a low 8.2% on Monday, October 14th, the pressure climbs sharply, reaching 38.5% on Friday, October 18th, and peaking at over 40% by the weekend.
These high numbers indicate a strong potential for visible symptoms and turf damage, particularly in susceptible areas. The team will be completing a number of environmentally sustainable preventative treatments this week in order to restrict a potential outbreak.
