Final Daily Mail Foursomes – Church Winter Foursomes
The final of the Daily Mail Foursomes knockout between Celia Jarvis & Caroline HK and Wendy Briggs & Sara Taylor took place on the first day of December. The forecast (an unusual easterly wind with no rain) was wrong and by the time they reached the 4th hole it was raining with a south westerly breeze picking up, Ce & CHK taking an early lead and all donning waterproofs and sheltering under umbrellas.
Skip a few holes, a nice little sandy par on the 8th from Briggsy & Sara and a decent par half on the 9th saw Ce & CHK go down the 10th comfortably up but, with them failing to find the 10th fairway and enjoying the thick rough in front of the tee on the 11th, the match moved back to 2 up. Briggsy & Sara made a strong comeback and had the momentum down 16, despite being 2 down. A bit of luck always comes in to golf and a half on the 16th was the boost Ce & CHK needed to clinch the match on the 17th winning 2&1. Congratulations to both pairs for making the final and good luck to Ce & Caroline who go on to represent St Enodoc in the regional knockouts.
